Who is the top AAU program in Colorado?

Each year, there is a different opinion. Each year, there is a different team that rises to the top. But what are the most consistent opinions and who usually rises to the top? After looking at Alumni lists, overall team strengths and quality of the program, the Colorado Chaos AAU program has been selected as the top program in Colorado.

According to the Colorado Chaos website, the Chaos has 15 teams going from ages 12 up to 17. The compete in local tournaments like the Hoyt Brawner and May Madness along with traveling to the top national tournaments like Reebok Summer Championships in Las Vegas and the Double Pump Best of Summer in Los Angeles.

Alumni of the Colorado Chaos include current Los Angeles Clipper and former Nevada All-American Nick Fazekas, and super freshman James Johnson of Wake Forest. In all, the Chaos boasts a whopping 141 college players, 41 of whom play or have played Division 1 basketball. Local schools of choice range from mid-majors like Denver and Air Force to low-major Northern Colorado. Nationally, Chaos has sent kids to U.C. Santa Barbara, Idaho, James Madison, Providence, Dartmouth, and Washington State among others.

For the past three years, the Chaos’ top team, “17’s Blue”, has fielded some of the best talent in the state. Players on this team in the past include Garrett Fiddler (Yale), Nicholas Marinucci (Colorado School of Mines), and Justin Coughlin (Denver) to name a few. This team is consistently competitive both in state as well as nationally.

The Colorado Chaos has gone from a growing program planting seeds in south Denver as well as Pueblo, to the most recognizable program in the state. For more information about the Colorado Chaos, please visit www.coloradochaos.com, or contact founder David Matthews at ColoradoChaos@msn.com.
